The Pitchforks establish a new standard of energy and musicality with their critically-acclaimed release Disconcert, once again capturing the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards for Best Album, Best Arrangement, and Best Scholastic Original. A soulful take on Marc Broussard’s "Home" won a spot on the coveted Best of College A Cappella compilation, and the Sing compilation recognized "As You Go," another outstanding original from Andrew Booth and Joseph Bates. Disconcert is the first Pitchforks album selected for the prestigious Recorded A Cappella Review Board’s Picks of the Year in 2008, a selection of the 18 best albums of any genre, professional or collegiate. Disconert represents the Pitchforks’ first experiments with a concept feel and thematic cohesion. The first half is poppy and fun, highlighted by a second original, "Dancin’ Thru," and capped off by U2’s iconic classic "With or Without You." The second half is darker, touching on a depth of emotion rarely seen in college a cappella, and culminating in a seamless trio of Keane’s "Atlantic," "As You Go," and Muse’s "Knights of Cydonia."
