The Bear Necessities, Brown University’s only all-male, “all-suspendered” a cappella group, have been wowing audiences with their devotion to musicality, energetic performances and innate ability to make suspenders sexy since 1992. The Bears live to perform, making audience participation, group choreography and incredible spectacle a regular part of their performances. Through various Spring Break tours, the Bears have amazed audiences from Cranston to Korea, Harvard Square to Picadilly Square and Thayer Street to Bourbon Street. In the last year, The Bear Necessities have been honored with two a cappella compilation CD selections including “White Shadows” (Teaches of Peaches) on VoicesOnly 2009 and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” (in production) on Ripple Effect, a charity album funding fresh-water wells in central Africa.
