The Spartones

UNC Greensboro

Founded in the Spring of 1997 by UNCG Master’s student, Kelly Turner, The Spartones are UNCG’s premier all-male a cappella group. Performing a wide variety of music, The Spartones can be seen giving electrifying performances of music from across many genres. The Spartones make regular appearances at weddings, high-schools, other colleges, competitions, festivals, on our annual fall tour of the eastern seaboard, or at one of our four regular season concerts. Since its inception the group has maintained a busy schedule and has released four studio albums: Casting the First Tone (1999), Let the Sunshine In (2000), Bulletproof (2003), and Not the Same (2008).

Some of our recent accomplishments include:

Spartones’ tracks from our last two albums can be found on compilations of the best of collegiate a cappella including Voices Only and Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA).

Special appearances have included hosting the Southern Regional Semi-Finals of ICCA, opening for Ben Folds on his 2009 tour Way to Normal, and appearing as the opening track on his a cappella compilation University A Cappella (2009).
