Off Main
Off Main is the newest of Juxtaposition’s seven albums. The album features ten songs from drastically varied artists while still providing a connectedness to the theme of the album which takes pride in performing songs that are just off the beaten path, commonly referred to as “mainstream.” The title “Off Main” can be taken literally since Virginia Tech is a campus that sits just west of Main street, while also being a loose implication to the avoidance of mainstream music in our repertoire. The tracks for the CD were recorded in our former music director’s garage with our unmistakably professional setup consisting of plywood, foam, and duct tape. It sure is a good thing that there isn’t much of a correlation between appearance and sound quality. We were able to record and produce the album in the timeframe of December 2008 - April 10, 2009 with the mixing and mastering done by Dave Sperandio of Diovoce.
