Awaken A Cappella
Awaken A Cappella is often recognized for helping pioneer the West Coast collegiate contemporary a cappella tradition, since its inception as the first co-ed collegiate a cappella group in Southern California. Founded at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1992, Awaken has enjoyed a successful career, performing at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, UCLA’s Spring Sing, Dance Marathon, a cappella festivals across California, and recently, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, as well as events in the community and their own quarterly concerts. Not only boasting members from all different majors, from musical theater to molecular biology, Awaken has a rich history of alumni who have gone on to professional music careers, most notably Sara Bareilles, Sonos, and Lady Danville. Awaken has released five albums, two of which have been recognized by Best of Collegiate A Cappella.
