Academical Village People

University of Virginia

Hailing from the University of Virginia, the Academical Village People (AVP) are known best for their raucous performances and endless enthusiasm, but AVP also brings it with top-notch musicality and a wide array of musical styles. Members of the group stage dive, run around, dance, and do basically anything to make an audience smile and join in the fun with them.

The group has rocked locally, but also has performed throughout the East Coast, in Hawaii, and in Barcelona. Notable events include opening for Dana Carvey at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Fall 2008, and opening for Girl Talk at the John Paul Jones Arena at UVa in Fall 2009. AVP has received multiple recording awards and most recently had the song “Lovers in Japan” selected for Voices Only 2009.
